3.0 out of 5 stars ipl 5000 successor? I think not!, 3 April 2012
This review is from: Remington IPL 4000 i-Light Essential Hair Removal System (Personal Care)
I have had great success with the IPL5000 model, until it found a new home :/

I had a few stray hairs left to blast, so this time I thought I go for this, the IPL4000 Essential.

The machine is virtually identical to the 5000 model, I honestly cannot point out the 'improvement' because one would expect new models are better models.

This is worse, and I wished I had bought another 5000. The main reason for this is because the 5000 happily repeat flashes for about 30 flashes before the main unit needs a cool-down (power off required for 5 mins) this model needed unit power down every 8 flashes.. it was very frustrating. Maybe faulty, who knows

The downside to whole range of Remington IPL is the life of the bulb, it is quite short. To get myself the body super-smooth, I had to purchase 3 extra bulbs, spread over 4 months, (at 20 a shot it soon tots up) but its very easy to switch bulbs.

I hear that they are soon bringing out the... Read more

Remington IPL 4000 i-Light Essential Hair Removal System

It works,! It actually works. A miracle. As a lady I have simple tastes where it comes to hair removal. Namely that it works and that is does not make you actually scream with pain. This delivers both.

It is simple, plug in switch on, press the and thingy to the area and it zaps the little hairs. That's it. After a while, it may take a while. The little hairs become more sparse and lighter. In the end they should not re-grow.

Now in order to test the hair removal properly I use it one leg, leaving the other untouched. There is a decided difference. The things I do for my fellow Amazon patrons...

The set up easy, there is a little booklet that ensures that you have the correct skin type. No keys, no secret codes and no faff.

The booklet is clear. NO USING IT ON YOUR FACE. Not that I was planning to do that anyway but it is nice to know that I am forewarned.

Easy... Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme ( What's this?)
Having seen the advert for a hair removal system on television, I thought the Remington (famous for shavers!) would be very similar. I think I was probably wrong. As soon as the product arrived I opened up the packaging and started to read the manual. This summarizes what I read:
1) Do not use on tanned skin or after recent sun exposure - I recently soaked up the rays
2) Not effective on grey (and some other types) hair - I have grey hair on my shoulders which I wanted to remove
3) Do not use on face or neck - unlike the make advertised on television!
4) Do not use if you have tattoos!!!
5) Do not use if you have moles or birth mark - I have small moles (along with the majority of humans!) and a birth mark on my back where I also intended to use the device
There are loads more 'Do not' but the thing which surprised me most was:
Shave the hair from the area to be treated
If I was going to shave the area, why would I need to use the i-Light? To... Read more
